shalla+chris=hitched
Posted on November 2, 2008
the day started like any other wedding day, get in the car and drive to the boonies.. ok, it wasn’t like all wedding days… their wedding was in east columbia, at I think the 5th oldest church in texas…Bethel Presbyterian Church. very cool looking and old.. so it made for some great shots. shalla and chris are some seriously funny people and just great to be around so I knew that this wedding was going to rock. now when they told me it was going to be a party I think I under estimated that statement. if you don’t know who they are you can click here to see their famous engagement session… anyways it was an incredible ceremony and to top it off they had Champagne toast after the ceremony outside.. classic! then it was off to a country club for the party!!! and then the drinking began
that sounds bad, then the party began
ah better! no really it was great, I had a great time… what happens in east columbia stays in east columbia.
to shalla and chris: you guys rock!!! I loved that I got the chance to work with you both, seriously, you both are amazing people. I know that you are going to have a great marriage! I can’t wait to work with you both in the near future, so we can create more art! keep rock’n
be prepared to be rock’d… here’s the pics ![]()

wanna see more??? check out the rock’n slideshow here!!!

laine+dave = freak’n awesome story!
Posted on October 27, 2008
Ok, this is going to be one amazing wedding story… laine and I met when I was sitting at starbucks working on my advertising piece for weddings in houston magazine. I went over to her to see if she liked the design (doing a little survey to see if it was any good) and she had seen me there before and checked my website. (truth be told, she looked over my shoulder while I was editing and saw my name and then used the all-to-famous “google” to find my website:) now that’s awesome… I got the chance to meet both her and dave later and we all hit it off. this couple is awesome!!! and this is just the beginning of their story! I had dave write out how they met: so get ready to feel their story unfold…
“Our sisters are best friends, our parents are good friends, growing up we lived 2 streets away from each other, we went to the same college, we shared unknown mutual friendships, and took family ski vacations as close to one another as Vail is to Beaver Creek.
We met through a timely chance encounter when I was in Houston visiting family and she was thick in the middle of PA school. Laine’s Mom Beverly had just battled cancer and miraculously defeated the seemingly inevitable fate that crushes so many lives today. My family was invited to her celebratory victory and my parents begged me to come along with them. They wanted me to meet a girl. By this time in my life I’d heard my parents mention “Lainey Scott” quite a bit. I brushed off their efforts as any normal young man would do when his parents try to make a simple suggestion. “She’s drop dead gorgeous and she went to Baylor,” they would argue, “Every Christmas morning she helps at a homeless shelter!” on and on and on. “We just wish you would meet her.” They used to try and get my big brother Drew to meet here the same way. He wasn’t interested though and neither was I. I’d never date anyone my parents’ thought I should. There’s no way they could dial in on the right girl for me. But I went to the party anyway. I figured, hmmm why not? It won’t hurt and I’m really just going to support Beverly and celebrate for her. I remember the exact moment I walked into Laine’s house. She was sitting on the couch with another handsome guy. She stood up to greet us in her gray dress, black tights, and black heel boot thingies. SSSSmokin! Good thing there’s another guy on the couch I thought. I just escaped embarrassing myself for a night and obvious to anyone she’s taken. Phew! I think I’ll just drink a lot of wine and stay mysteriously quiet in shadows of the corners. We shook hands and I reached for my asthma inhaler. The thing is that I don’t have asthma or for that matter an inhaler either, back to the wine idea. I was quickly informed the other guy was “just a friend.” “So what,” I contended. “She’s in another league and the other guy is never “just” a friend.” My Dad looked at me like I wasn’t a man. We ended up crossing paths several times throughout the night where in each case my parents or sister announced embarrassingly untrue exaggerations of my character in front of her. Finally it was time to go and I think I was in the car before my parents could even find the keys or their jackets. My sister got in and said, “I have her number and Kristin, (Laine’s sister) said you should call her.” “Whatever. You’re just trying to get me to call her. She doesn’t even know I exist.” Uproar from all parties ensued. “Alright, alright, alright,” I just wanted to put their minds at ease so I stored the number in my phone and agreed to call her.
With some intense peer pressure from my friends Laine and I ended up hanging out the next night. And our first “date” was on New Year’s Eve. And we pretty much hung out every night after that. We fell in love over a Sunday walk in West University, Houston and we were able to cultivate our love with letters and late night long distance phone calls while I lived in Vail, Denver and Boulder, Colorado. Laine and I are thankful our paths crossed in just the right time. When we met my brother had passed away earlier that year. Soon after we met Laine’s Mom succumbed to an unexpected case of pneumonia. In hindsight, we recognize the small window where had we met sooner my heart wouldn’t have been ready, and any later and her heart would’ve been too wounded. We’ve been gifted with the comfort we share in our sorrows and in our newfound everyday joys. We get to look up to the sky and smile at our heavenly best friends, and we get to look at each other as best friends here on earth. We are blessed. We are stoked. dave santamaria”
To laine and dave: thanks for truly being genuine! it has been awesome to be able to hang out with you both. I consider it a privilege to be able to capture your story, and look forward to friendships that lie ahead! be blessed!!!

kristin+bridal=what the…
Posted on October 16, 2008
first of all, there is something to be said about people. now, I am very far from perfect, as most of my friends and family know, but people as we all know come in varying shapes and sizes, different attitudes, different approaches to life, and different ways we treat other people… some are jerks, some just keep to themselves, some are only after selfish ambition, and some are so cool it’s crazy. now I say all of this to say, that kristin and her future hubby nick, are some of the coolest people that I have met.. seriously! this post is really going to show-case the amazing beauty and pure awesomeness of Kristin with the bridal sesh we did at the hotel icon, but I just shot their engagement pics last night (which will be coming soon), and I had one of those days that I could have done without… but, as we meet up last night to do the shoot, I felt like I could just talk to them about some of the things that happened yesterday, and this is where their awesomeness really shined! first of all, they listened (let me just say that this is probably one of the most important things in life. listening) secondly, they encouraged, and lastly they showed the love!
To Kristin and Nick: thanks!!! thanks for listening, thanks for encouraging, and thanks for sharing some love. you really have no Idea how much that meant to me, sorry for being so sappy:) you guys rock!!!

sarah+bridal+awesomeness
Posted on October 12, 2008
let me just start out by saying… holy cow! yes, I just said holy cow… like I said in the sneek peek a couple of days ago, when I looked up where we were going to be shooting, I thought, man, this is going to be a challange. I drove up to the club house I was seeing all this clean-up going on from the aftermath of Mr. Ike. and I was thinking how cool it would be to get some shots incorporating the cleanup. so i started to scout the area finding the cool spots to grab some shots when sarah arrived… the first thing that came out of her mouth was “I don’t want anything traditional” :)))) I knew that this shoot was going to rock! sarah did such an amazing job and she was so easy to work with… I say it all the time but I have the most amazing clients… truly! we had a great time and captured some great shots… so here’s to getting your face rock’d…
sarah: you were so awesome… thanks for just being you! I can’t wait until friday!!! your wedding is going to rock!!! so here’s to non-traditional :)
let me know what you think-

michelle+bridal=my take!
Posted on October 8, 2008
well hellllooo… this was a great shoot. I tagged along with danny as a second shooter at his bridal sesh at the hotel Icon a couple of weeks back. there’s nothing like going along with another photographer to shoot.. you really have no responsibility other than to just have fun shooting…(pics that is) michelle was very awesome and easy to work with. afterwards I introduced michelle to a new kind of beer, she’s just used to the normal and bland beer i.e bud, coors, etc… so, we all grabbed a heifenweisen beer, and she loved it! I’m sure you’ve seen the earlier blog post that I did for danny so that jeremy wouldn’t see michelle in her dress.. if not click here. anyways, it was another rock’n bridal sesh that I loved to be apart of. so here’s my take on the day!
hey danny: thanks for inviting me to come along, I had a great time as always… keep rock’n it bro-
let me know what you think- I do love comments
